Understanding Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson is by far one of the most controversial presidents in American History. During his presidency he removed 100,000 Native Americans from their homes, fired 2,000 governmental officials, vetoed more times than the six presidents before him, threatened to send troops to South Carolina, and killed the Bank of the United States. Since Jackson's presidency, historians have tried to make sense of him as president and decide whether if he was an effective or ineffective executive. Did he abuse power? Or did he do what was best for nation at the time? Take a look at PBS's documentary on Andrew Jackson's life and decide for yourself.
